How to reinforce the cracks in paint by numbers?

Paint by numbers, as the name implies, is a hand-painted painting using oil painting techniques and pigments. It is different from traditional oil paintings. It changes from abstract paintings and uses strong color visual effects and abstract freehand decorative styles to express ideas. See It seems simple, in fact, it has rich connotation and background, changing style, color and appearance decoration with the change of the times.

These are high-end paintings, but there are also cheap decorative paintings painted with materials such as acrylic and pumice. If you use good oil paintings, plus a painter with real artistic accomplishment, then a real artwork will come out.

So how to reinforce the cracked paint by numbers?

The thematic structure of common oil paintings: base layer, paint layer, over-dyeing layer (not involved in direct painting), glazing oil layer.

After the oil painting is stored for a long time, it is inevitable that the adhesion between the paint layer and the base layer will decrease, the paint layer will be deformed, the picture will be cracked, delamination, blistering, bulging and other problems.

Reinforcement is to address the above problems and strengthen the adhesion of the pigment to the substrate to prevent further peeling of the pigment layer.

Before reinforcement, the screen needs to be inspected, and it is best to use X-ray imaging for observation. Mainly observe the crease, cracking and peeling of paint by number canvas.

Use a fine-haired hook line pen or other small pens to clean out the dust in the cracks, and use a magnifying glass if necessary.

In addition, you need to drop a drop of alcohol on the main part of the screen to test whether it changes color. If it changes color, you cannot use natural binders.

There are many kinds of reinforcement media, such as: natural adhesives, synthetic adhesives, acrylic adhesives, and synthetic waxes. The most commonly used is fish glue in natural adhesives or thermoplastic resin adhesive in synthetic adhesives.

Take the isinglass as an example, the hot glue can soften the isinglass and keep it at 60 degrees Celsius. During the reinforcement process, the fish glue can only be applied to the palm-sized area at most to prevent the large area from "washing away" the pigment powder.

In order to allow the isinglass to quickly penetrate through the gaps in the paint and penetrate into the canvas, the suction device under the repair table must be opened and a heavy object should be placed on the screen. This process may seem simple, but in fact, the temperature and pressure must be controlled very well.
